Not the giant, smelly sort, but the gigantic, metal, nuclear-powered ones. Yesterday Steve Jackson published an http://www.sjgames.com/ill/“>open letter to distributors about the upcoming 6th edition of Ogre, the cult board/wargame which was his first design back in 1977.
In the letter he revealed more information about the game than was available in total until now. It’s gonna be a huge game retailing for $100, but it’s not gonna be euro-style; no, it will feature a hex grid and cardboard counters. But all the components will be top notch – “HUGE double-sided map boards. HUGE full-color counters with HUGE type. A HUGE box to hold them in. And giant constructible Ogres!” You can learn more about the game from the http://www.sjgames.com/ill/img/2011/ogre.6e.sell.pdf“>sell sheet they created.
Personally, I can’t wait for this to be released. The heyday of Ogre was before my time as a gamer (and indeed, some of it even before I was born) and I’ve never heard of anyone playing it in these parts, but what I’ve read on the net and in GURPS Ogre makes me very interested in trying it. So two thumbs up for Steve and his crew!
